Elementary aged children are still learning how to navigate web-based information. At Village School we stress the importance of developig good keywords before embarking upon any type of search. Students should first search their keywords using our school databases (World Book Online, Nettrekker, Culture Grams, etc). Next they should use websites on our Village Symbaloo page or Sweet Search. Finally, if they still need more information, they may use Google to search with adult supervision.
Children should not be allowed to search Google or YouTube when unsupervisied. We recommend a kid safe google search engine such as http://www.safesearchkids.com. Also, make sure safety settings are in place on all computers used by your child(ren).
